1. Laryngeal mask is a kind of airway device which is more practical than mask and less damaging than endotracheal intubation.

2. Laryngeal mask airway has such advantages of simplicity, emergency and so on. It can not only be used as a way of ventilation, but also can be used for the induction for difficult intubation cases, the remedy of rapid intubation failure, and the first-aid without the presence of professionals.

Safe and comfortable

1. The cardiovascular response is mild. Laryngeal mask avoids the mechanical stimulation of laryngoscope and tracheal intubation on the epiglottis receptor, the deep receptor of tongue root and neck muscle and the tracheal mucosa, and has little effect on the sympathetic adrenergic system and renin-angiotension system. It can be used for patients with hypertension, myocardial ischemia and heart failure.

2. The laryngeal mask can be easily placed. Generally, it does not need to distort the airway with laryngoscope for exposing the glottis, and satisfactory ventilation can be achieved, and the incidence rate and mortality of difficult airway where the glottis cannot be exposed are reduced

Remind: Laryngeal masks could not totally replaced endotracheal tubes as in some cases only ET tube is suitable.
