TECHNICAL DATA
PGA is a synthetic absorbable, braided, coated suture composed of a Polyglycolic acid (PGA) and is available both dyed and un-dyed. When dyed, only FDA-approved color additives such as D&C Violet No.2 are used. The un-dyed suture is milk white (beige) in color. PGA is characterized by very high initial strength and reabsorption, adequate to the healing processes, thus providing the maximum safety expected from synthetic absorbable braids.

ABSORPTION
Its mechanism of Absorption takes place by hydrolysis and guarantees a very high rate of tensile strength and a minimum degree of absorption in the initial critical phase of healing. In vitro Linear tensile strength retention after 2 weeks in PBS (PH=7.4) at 37ºC≥65% BSR The total absorption duration is between 50-80 days after the implantation, avoiding adverse reactions and titular inflammation.

TENSILE STRENGTH
The residual tensile strength is the tensile strength that the suture supports during the healing period. After implantation, the strength of an absorbable suture decreases over time. The retention time represents the time during which the suture retains a certain degree of tensile strength.
