Detection methods:
The Brucella Coombs gel test is a very rapid serological method for detecting non-agglutinating Brucella IgG antibodies and agglutinating Brucella IgM antibodies. Brucella Coombs gel test based on the principle of centrifugation gel system similar to the gel system used in blood group determination,the microtubes contain gel matrix and Coombs antibodies (anti-human IgG). The Brucella Coombs gel test can be used for the diagnosis of all stages of infection, relapses, and reinfections of brucellosis. If there is antibody in the serum of patient, the pink antigen-antibody complex appears after centrifugation, which cannot pass through the gel gap and remains at the top of microtubes. If there is no antibody, pink antigen accumulates at the bottom of the microtube after centrifugation. The Brucella Coombs gel test can be used for screening purposes and titrating Brucella antibodies.Results can be assessed with the naked eye and doing so does not require experience, all of the processes can be completed in approximately 1 hour after the blood sample is drawn.
Detection Principle & Result Interpretation:
-->negative results,if Brucella antibodies were not present in the testing serum under the impact of the centrifugal force, the Brucella antigens would reach the bottom of microtubes through the gel gap.
--> Positive results
if Brucella antibodies were present in the testing serum, antigens and antibodies will agglutinate to form pink complex, which can not pass through the gel gap and remains at the top of microtubes.
